And it continues...
A lot has happened over the last few days.
I was able to do a total of 15.5 miles, 9 mile session and 6.5 session, in a single day. I was so excited, until the next morning, when my ankle started giving me trouble.
I thought about just letting my ankle go and trying to self-medicate the pain and soreness with stretching and some Extra Strength Tylenol. But, neither the pain nor the soreness went away, so I set up a Doctor appointment.
I haven't had the appointment yet, and the one I have set is just the preliminary appointment for getting a referral from my Primary Care Doctor for a Podiatrist. So, it will actually be a few days or weeks before anything is really done for my ankle. I cut back a little on my running time and have tried to just increase the speed, which seems to allow me to train with little affect on my ankle. I've also discontinued my outdoor running, at least until the Podiatrist takes care of my ankle.
I guess one exciting part of this is that I've been able to increase my running speed to 7 mph on the treadmill. I was even able to do a full 20 minutes of straight running, again with little pain of soreness. I was very excited about that.
Hopefully, the issues with my ankle will not include surgery. I'd hate to have to take an extended amount of time off for recovery and basically have to start from the beginning again with all of my training.
I'm definitely getting anxious for this to get resolved.
